Antenatal & Maternity Packages FAQ’S

1. What does the Antenatal Package cover?

•    6 Antenatal visits (any extra visits out of the schedule will be charges separately)
•   2 Postnatal visit by the doctor after CS at 2 weeks & 6 weeks
•   1 Neo-natal baby visit (at 2 weeks old)
•   Pre-natal investigations i.e. Laboratory tests & 2 ultrasound scans
•  1 postnatal visit by the doctor (after Normal delivery at 6 weeks)
•  1 physiotherapy session

2. What is the price of the Antenatal Package?
   • 60,000

3. What does the Normal Delivery Package cover?
   • Obstetricians, Paediatricians & Resident Registrar fee
   • Post-natal investigations i.e. Laboratory tests
   • Normal ward bed for 2 days
   • Nursery charges for 2 days with vaccinations
   • 1 physiotherapy session post – natal

4. What is the price of the Normal Delivery Package?
   • 90,000

5. Can I use my own doctor and still take up the normal delivery package?
   • You will pay your doctors fee separately and get an itemized normal delivery bill upon discharge

6. What does the Caesarean Section Package cover?

• Obstetricians, Paediatricians & Resident Registrar fee
• Post-natal investigations i.e. Laboratory tests
• Anaesthetist fee
• Theatre fees
• 1 physiotherapy session post – natal
• Normal ward bed for 3 days
• Nursery charges for 3 days with vaccination

7. What is the price of the Caesarean Section Package?
   • 190,000

8. Can I use my own doctor and still take up the Caesarean Section package?
   • You will pay your doctors fee separately and get an itemized delivery bill upon discharge

9. When do I need to make payment for any of the packages?
   • The antenatal package is payable upfront on initiation of the package.
   • All Patients subscribing to any of our delivery packages should pay a deposit of Kshs. 100,000 in advance up to the time of admission. (instalment rates are allowed)

10. Can I upgrade to a private room?
    • If you prefer to occupy a private room, an additional cost will be incurred & is subject to availability

11. What are the rates for a private room?
    • Private Room – Kshs. 14,500 (St. Andrews) per day
    • En-suite – Kshs. 23,500 per day
    • North wing
      • Deluxe Suite – Kshs 45,000 per day
      • Premier Suite – Kshs 65,000 per day
      • Presidential Suite – Kshs 98,000 per day

12. Can I pay for delivery using NHIF or Linda Mama?
    • NHIF only cover for the daily bed rebate of Kshs. 4,000
    • Package rates are net of NHIF. If you are not an NHIF member you will be charged the bed rebate of Kshs. 4,000.

13. Can I take up Antenatal or Delivery packages on my insurance
    • Please contact your insurance provider on your scope of cover

14. Will I be charged anything else apart from the package rates?
    • Any extra cost incurred outside the package will be charged separately.
    • The only exemption to the above package will be in case of unforeseen complications during delivery.

15. My pregnancy has been termed as “high risk” (mature age of the mother, carrying multiples, diabetic, hypertensive mother), can I still use the package?
    • The package does not cater for high risk pregnancies & complications

16. If I take up the Normal Delivery Package and undergo an emergency Caesarean Section on the day of delivery, which rate applies?
    • In case of an emergency Caesarean Section, the C/S charge will apply

17. What is not covered under the package?
    • Medicines or vitamin supplements
    • Any other laboratory or radiology tests other than pre-natal investigations
    • Hospitalization during pregnancy other than delivery
    • Removal of retained placenta under anaesthesia
    • Repair of lacerations Under general anaesthesia
18. Do you offer normal delivery under Epidural?
    • Yes, we offer 24hr Epidural services for a pain free delivery at a rate of Kshs. 55,000 on appointment
19. Do you have Lamaze classes?
    • Yes, at the Anderson Speciality Clinic every:
      • Wednesday: 5:00 pm to 7:00pm
      • Saturday: 10:00am to 12:00pm
      • Lamaze classes (6 sessions) – Kshs. 12,000

20. When can I start the antenatal visits?
    • Start as soon as you are pregnant.

21. I want to change to the hospital package from my private doctor. What is the process?
    • Antenatal package is dependent on the stage of your pregnancy preferably below 36 weeks of gestation
    • Normal Delivery Package & Caesarean package apply on delivery with the hospital Obstetrician

22. Where can I do my booking for delivery?
    • Maternity booking is managed at the Anderson Speciality Clinic and Day surgery Cashier as you approach your delivery date.

Radiation Treatment Unit

This unique centre, located on the ground floor, was officially opened in July 2012. It is equipped with the latest state of the art radiation therapy machines to safely and efficiently deliver quality radiation treatment. In addition, there is a high dose rate Brachytherapy unit which allows radiation to be administered by directly introducing a radiation source into the body.

Chemotherapy Unit

This is a high quality day care service offered in a quiet, peaceful and comfortable environment by a team of experienced doctors, nurses and related team members. It is a day care service to clients who do not require to be admitted to hospital for treatment. The centre has all emergency setups in place for use in case of an emergency. Chemotherapy drugs are prepared in the Lamina flow which prevents fumes from the drugs to come into contact with other people and the environment.

International Patient Centre

Language Services

Interpreters are available at no cost to assist communication between our staff and patients whose primary language is not English. These interpreters can attend appointments, translate patient education materials and offer other assistance as needed.
Patients should indicate if they need an interpreter when requesting an appointment.

Efficient scheduling

TNH doctors provide both diagnosis and treatment in the same visit whenever possible. Doctors can report diagnostic test results to patients 1-2 days after testing is completed.

Schedule for appointment for tests, physician consultation and treatment can be compressed into a short period for international patients. This means less time away from home, less expense and more efficient use of patients and family members time.

Speech And Language Therapy

The Nairobi Hospital prides itself in having qualified speech and language therapist who assess, treat and gives advises in the areas of communication disorders in children and adults such difference may exist from birth or acquired later in life or injury.
The speech and language therapist will assess your communication difficulties, discuss them with you and your relatives and decide on an appropriate treatment programm.
